by Governor Charlie Crist and the
Commissioner of Education for the State of
Florida as an outstanding community/schoolbased
program.

At the 2007 AAHPERD Convention (American
Alliance for Health, Physical, Education,
Recreation & Dance), Commit 2B Fit®
received the AAHPERD School/Community
Recognition Award. This award recognized its
outstanding contributions to the community
in facilitating and promoting healthy, active
li lifestyles.

Elly Zanin, co-creator of Commit 2B Fit® and
Broward County’s curriculum specialist for
Physical Education, received the American
Diabetes Valor Award for her role in the
co-creation of the innovative health and
fitness program, Commit 2B Fit®. The award
is for citizens who have worked for the
be betterment of the Broward community. It
acknowledges outstanding service and
leadership, and increases awareness about
diabetes and its effect on the general
population.
