Commit 2B Fit® provides training and offers
a certification program for teachers and
physical education teachers. During the
training, you will learn just how simple it is to
integrate Commit 2B Fit® into the day
without adding layers. The Commit 2B Fit®
training provides teaching tips that help
fa facilitate ease of implementation. With just a
few key pointers, your classroom will come
alive with the Commit 2B Fit® culture.
The Integrated Commit 2B Fit®
Classroom:
There is just not enough time in the day!
That is the mantra of today's teacher.
Commit 2B Fit® is designed to blend with
what is already happening in your classroom!
While the students are planning their
academic day, they also plan their nutrition
and physical activity for the day-all in one
planner! It becomes part of your morning
routine without any additional effort from
you.
Commit 2B Fit® lesson plans are aligned with
specific pages in the planner and are
integrated into academic subjects. You simply
direct the students to their planner, give
them the lesson and watch them immediately
become engaged in the fun, colorful and
educational messages on each page.
Commit 2B Fit® Homework:
While kids certainly need to be "physically
educated" by a certified physical education
teacher, they need to be encouraged to be
physically active outside of school. In the
Commit 2B Fit® student planner, help your
kids set physical activity/fitness goals and
help them plan what activities at home or in
th the community they can do to reach those
goals.
Remember-60 minutes of moderate to
vigorous physical activity every day! (And 30
minutes of moderate to vigorous physical
ctivity for YOU!)
Tip #1: At the beginning of
the school year as you
introduce the student to
their new Commit 2B Fit®
planner, make sure to
review the User's Guide
(pages 2 and 3) and "How
to fill out the weekly
Commit 2B Fit® section"
(page 4). This will save you
time and will reduce the
number of questions asked. (click link above to view sample pages of planner)
Tip #2: Daily, and as a
part of a morning routine,
have the students open up
their student
planners/agendas. As they
are planning or checking
their assignments for the
da day, have the students log
the number of fruits and
vegetables they had from
the night before and for
breakfast. Additionally,
have them log their activity
from the night before and
any activity they may have
had before or on the way
to school (walking to
school, playing with friends
before school, etc). All
they have to do is simply
put a tally mark in the
appropriate area! Early
recall is important!
Following the lunch break,
repeat the process and
have them log the fruits,
vegetables and any physical
activity they had
through lunch.
Eating healthy is the other
half of the commitment to
be fit. In the Standard
American Diet (SAD), food
choices are not always the
best. But making small
changes in daily choices
ca can make a big difference
in a person's health. Teach
your kids about the Kids
Food Pyramid at
www.mypyramid.gov/KIDS
Your students will carry the
message home (as they did
with smoking and seat
belts) and families will start
to make the small changes
that will help develop
habits for a healthier
li lifestyle.
